Holidays & Breaks

End-of-Year Break 🎄

Symph provides a paid 2-week break at the end of each year, usually the last 2 working weeks of December. Use this time to rest, recharge, and prepare for the new year!

Total Paid Time Off from End-of-Year Break: 10 days

Holidays 🎉

We are using regular and special non-working holidays affecting Cebu City as the basis for Symph Holidays.
Holidays that fall on weekdays are considered workdays by default.
You can choose to take the holiday off by filing a leave. There will be no deductions from your leave credits, this would just inform the team that you are taking the holiday.
If you work on a holiday, you'll earn an additional leave credit that you can use later.
Unused holiday leave credits at the end of each quarter will be converted to cash based on your daily rate.
Quarterly cut-off dates: March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31
Holidays during the 2-week end-of-year break do not count as additional leave.

DEFAULT: Any earned leave credits will be converted to cash at the end of the quarter.
OPTION: Unused holiday leaves can be rolled over as leaves to the next quarter/s.

Total Annual Paid Time Off from Cebu Holidays: 13-18 days

Laptops During Time Off 💻

All team members must bring their laptops during holidays, leaves, and weekends - this ensures we can respond to P0 emergencies if needed.
You can absolutely put yourself in Do Not Disturb mode! Just ensure ~3 people can reach you in case of P0:
Your direct teammates who know your work
Your PM or team lead
In special cases, the Chiefs
Rare exceptions (hiking, going to a remote place, medical procedures, etc.) must be:
Communicated to your PM and team in advance
Covered by a clear contingency plan
Explicitly approved by your PM

Remember: This is about preparedness, not constant availability.
Our goal is peace of mind knowing everything works well. Nobody wants to disturb anyone for fun; we only reach out during time off as an absolute last resort when our Clients are losing money every second that passes by (P0).
