Everything is Confidential by Default
When you work at Symph, assume everything is confidential unless explicitly stated otherwise. This covers:
Code repositories and snippets Internal communications and discussions Client lists and project details All content in our internal tools (Notion, Drive, etc.) Your NDA means you're obligated to protect this info. Sharing Symph property outside the company is not allowed.
The Only Exceptions
Some things you learn at Symph are okay to share, like:
Open-source code and tools we use Industry best practices and methodologies Publicly announced news and events Information you find from other sources If you can access it outside of Symph, it's not confidential. When uncertain, check with your lead.
Company IP is for Company Use
The code you write for Symph belongs to Symph. That means:
Don't copy-paste our codebase to personal projects Don't reuse Symph code in school assignments Don't share proprietary scripts or algorithms externally But feel free to learn from our work. Apply similar techniques to new challenges - just write the code yourself.
Client Project Boundaries
Copying code between client projects is dicey. It's fine to:
Adapt general utility functions and boilerplate Reuse public open-source libraries and tools Implement similar UI patterns and components But duplicating core business logic or proprietary algorithms is not okay. If you're unsure, ask.
Your Responsibility
Keeping Symph's assets secure is part of your job. If you're ever in doubt, get clarity from your lead.
Improper handling of confidential info puts you and Symph at risk. Violating this policy has consequences.
